Likely offensive to some
, but I find it perfectly on point.
“Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

I’ll just say that there are certain words that I’m glad are considered no longer acceptable that used to be commonplace. Is there extremism for some with PC? Yes. Is all PC bad? No.

Not to be politically correct, but when you quote someone, it’s customary to cite them. That way people know whether you’re not you’re just quoting morons on the internet.

So now, in this blog that is at least tangentially related to cars, we are just posting quotes that absolutely define white privilege and present those in favor of not being held back due to race, creed or color as “delusional” and “illogical?”
Awesome.

American political discourse can often be stiflingly narrow in scope but I somehow doubt that’s what this quote is talking about

... quoting morons on the internet.
What’s the point of the internet then?

I don’t think we share the same definition of “fun”

Attribution?
Reminds me of something Limbaugh might say. I don’t mean that in a good way.

I think the problem is people can’t tell the difference between p olitical correctness and not being an asshole. Racism, sexism, and homophobia have no place in our society. Voicing support for these causes doesn't make someone politically incorrect, it just makes them an asshole.

That’s fair. Also fuzzy videos of bigfoot and blinking lights that are ufo’s.
And absolutely terrible flat earth videos. Man, I love those FE idiots.

Eh. I guess it depends on what you identify as “political correctness”. To me, it means replacing words and actions that are unnecessary linked to structures that aren’t inherent to those words and actions.
Examples: “police officer” and “firefighter” have replaced “policeman” and “fireman”. Those jobs were historically masculine, but that formerly masculine space is now no longer the sole domain of men. So we changed the word because it was disparate in its gendering of a job.
Prior to the 1950s the appropriate collective possessive pronoun in all cases for a group of people was “his”, even when the subject was a group of women. APA and MLA Style guides no longer have this guideline because of vernacular shifts, just as the vernacular shifted away from gendering of professions.
It’s hardly picking up a turd by the clean end. More like putting on a glove before you pick the turd up so you don’t get shit on your hands, then putting the turd in the trash bin where it belongs, rather than putting it on the mantle and telling everyone how great that turd is.

I thought bigfoot and UFO sightings were what kept the VHS format afloat?

Supposedly dates to some U of Texas students. I remember seeing this a while ago originally being attributed to Truman, but easily debunked due to the “mainstream media” reference.

Political Inc orrectness is a doctrine fostered by a racist , homophobic , and hatefilled minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous Fox media which holds forth the proposition that it’s okay to throw shit at people not like you.

Quoting myself from a 6-year-old blog post:
And I refuse to treat white men whining about “political correctness” as my moral North Star.

I believe the turd belongs in the toilet, sir or madame. Are you saying you don’t flush your turds?

This is supporting my “morons on the internet” hypothesis. With any luck, we’ll have this reposted multiple times for the lunch/evening/southern hemisphere and narcolepsy crowd, with no citation ever given.

I shit in the kitchen trashcan just like everyone else.
I think he meant dog shit

Kitchen trash? Nah, sink. That’s what the garbage disposal is for.
![]() 06/17/2020 at 14:37 |

Even so, we always flushed our dog’s turds...

Exactly. That’s why they are so blurry. It’s what they want you to think. It goes deep man.

Texas A&M was what I heard , which makes more sense to me as an alum

I should have simply said “a university in Texas”, as I wasn’t sure of which one it was. Oops.

And all anyone sees is race in that quote, of course.
![]() 06/17/2020 at 16:40 |

Because only professors, athletes, and celebrities say worthwhile things right?
![]() 06/17/2020 at 16:41 |

I think more issue stems from everyone searching for the evil in things.
![]() 06/17/2020 at 16:42 |

I agree with that 100%.
![]() 06/17/2020 at 17:56 |

And all you saw was what?
![]() 06/17/2020 at 18:08 |

No, I would classify a lot of professors, most athletes and most celebrities as “ morons on the internet”. That’s why you need to cite your sources.
So who said this, some moron on the internet ?
![]() 06/18/2020 at 06:46 |
|
Definitely not anything to do with race.
I took it more as people actively looking for reasons to be offended, even in places there is no offense to be had.
![]() 06/18/2020 at 06:47 |
|
No idea. Honestly don’t care.
Who said it doesn’t change my view on it.
![]() 06/18/2020 at 07:13 |
|
Who says there is no offense to be had? Who is the judge of what is offensive? You? Other w
hite men aged 35-65? Y
ou don’t get to tell someone else what it is that offends them. And your response to someone saying to you “what you are saying offends me” shouldn’t be “oh that’s silly.”
![]() 06/18/2020 at 08:19 |
|
The problem lies in trying to change everything due to one person being offended just ends in more people offended, creating a never ending loop.
Why is one person’s offense any less than someone else’s?
Better question, when did people become so fragile?

Liberty and justice for all.

You sound like a very informed individual. It’s this sort of critical thinking about the world around us that we need to promote in our society. Well done. Here, I found the attribution:
“ Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”
-Joseph Stalin

As I said, who said it doesn’t change my view on it.
I’m sorry you value the “who” more than the “what” of things.

No need to apologize. I get paid to combat this sort of ignorance. As long as it’s out on display I’ll always have work. I encourage you to keep flying your flag.
